Over the weekend, at my son’s request, we got out and visited our local wildlife park.

We watched Tucker Time at the billabong and saw the pelicans, fish and freshwater crocodiles being fed. My son is so interested in this stuff. Did you know …

• that pelicans use their beak as a scoop for catching fis, and
• that freshwater crocodile eggs are hatching at this time of year

But my son was most interested to learn from the ranger why you shouldn’t feed wild birds (among other things it makes them dependent on humans).
