It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas …

One of our advent activities for this year is to hunt for signs of Christmas.  I am going to take the kids into town and we will hunt for and photograph the following things…
  • a half-eaten candy cane
  • presents under a Christmas tree
  • Santa Claus
  • a non-traditional Santa ornament (for example, Santa wearing a colour other than red)
  • a star on top of a Christmas tree
  • a Christmas display that is mostly red
  • someone wearing a Santa hat
  • a bell ornament for hanging on the Christmas tree
  • a place to post a letter to Santa
  • a nativity scene
  • a reindeer
I think most people would be able to find these things somewhere in their local area.

If you are in the Northern Hemisphere and would like an outdoor scavenger hunt, here is one from Woodland Trust, UK.

If you are in the Southern Hemisphere and wanted to make the hunt more outdoorsy, perhaps you could include some of these things on the list …
  • the Southern Cross
  • a real pine tree
  • a decorated tree outside
  • a poinsettia
  • Christmas lights
  • use a compass to find North where Santa will be coming from
What are your suggestions for a Christmas scavenger hunt?

I love this idea, Cat! It's especially applicable to those of us living in urban spaces. Can't wait to try it with my boys!
