10 ways to make February memorable

  1. make and fly paper aeroplanes.  Try a few different designs.  Which planes fly the furthest?  Can you make a plane that can do a loop-the-loop?
  2. celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14 by writing your child a note to remind them that you love them.

  4. enjoy all the summer fruits by making fruit salad or fruit kebabs.  You could try and create these with a colour theme or try to include all the colours of the rainbow
  5. collect summer memories and preserve them in a jar.  You can see a sand and shell version at Martha Stewart, but you could put anything that reminds you of this summer in the jar - photos, postcards, nature finds, your child’s favourite hairtie and so on.
  6. teach your kids to jump rope or play elastics (Chinese jumprope).
  7. play with playdough or clay.
  8. February 16, 1923 was the day that King Tutankhamun’s burial chamber was opened.  Visit the British Museum’s online exhibition about Ancient Egypt and explore pharaohs, mummification, pyramids and hieroglyphics.
