Gudjeuk – the monsoon season
“Barra, the north-west monsoon winds.
bring rain, rain, rain.
The land gets filled up with water.”
Everything is very green and growing like mad.
We can hear the frogs singing at night and are starting to see lots of tadpoles and baby frogs. The pools of water everywhere also mean lots of mosquitoes.
We have noticed many different types of birds visiting our garden, including blue-winged kookaburras, azure kingfishers, sulphur-crested cockatoos and a tawny frogmouth flying around outside our bedroom…
The fishing is great as flooding allows the barramundi to migrate through the rivers.
And something we learnt from the book …
Ginga, the saltwater crocodile, watches as her eggs hatch and the babies move to the water to feed.
How’s the weather where you live?
