beachcombing
These photos are from a beach on the NSW coast, whilst we were visiting my mother (last year). I’m aiming to do more beachcombing this year, but it is a bit of a drive, so I am waiting for cooler weather.
This is what you do with your “take home” finds – sort them out.
SeaWeek has just passed, which I why I thought I’d write about beachcombing. You should check out this great resource - The Gould League Seashores – a visual guide to Australian seashores if you plan on some beachcombing. This site will inspire you to go beachcombing, keep you safe and help you identify the creatures and treasures you might find when beachcombing or exploring rockpools.
If you have an older child who is interested in microscopy (or if you are), collect some sand to view under the microscope. Each beach will look different. To inspire you in this direction have a look at Each Grain of Sand a Tiny Work of Art.
What’s your best find while beachcombing? What other activities do you like to do at the beach?
